PRINT SOLUTION OPTIONS

Print processes on food packaging products can be complex. There are countless applications to understand and apply in relation to paper and print variations.

First Pack Group are experts in the various types of eco-friendly, aqueous and/or water based food safe ink processes for food packaging products.

Please see the three main print processes available when manufacturing pizza cartons below, and note - There is also a 4th process - â€˜Printing inside the Boxâ€™ This is usually used for the purpose of special promotions, (see point 4).

1. STANDARD FLEXO:

The mostly commonly used print process used for pizza cartons. Its economical and usually incorporates designs up to four colours. Pantone or PMS spot colours are used in this process. Please see examples of Standard Flexo printed boxes below.

2. HIGH RESOLUTION FLEXO:

High Resolution or HD Flexo is used to recreate a photo image or a more detailed clearer picture on a pizza carton. This process incorporates more dots per square inch and, is usually more expensive than Standard Flexo printing. Please refer to some examples of High Res Flexo below:

3. LITHOGRAPHIC:

Lithographic, (also referred to as Off-Set Printing), uses metal print plates and is often used for high quality, magazine type printing. However, it can also be used for super high resolution pizza box printing, if a very high quality print finish is required. Below is an example of a Lithographic printed pizza box.

4. INSIDE BOX PRINTING (IBP):

FPG offers technology that allows printing on the inside of a pizza box, (IBP). For this process, boxes go through a double print run therefore the cost is higher than standard printing. IBP involves the use of high quality, food grade, water based inks which are guaranteed safe for printing on areas that may come into direct contact with food like pizza.
